THINGS TO DO DURING YOUR STAY WITH US!

Obviously, the core reason that you will be with us is the training, meeting new people and hopefully great new friendships. But there will be downtime to be enjoyed, so we have put together our very favourite places and things to do whilst you stay with us here in wonderful Whitstable. We call them, Our Bunch of Fives:

Our Bunch of Fives favourite pubs are:

  • The Old Neptune : ‘The Neppy’, great pub on the beach. Sunny day, hard to beat. Darren, the Guvnor, absolute Legend! Walk from us 15 minutes, 10 if you cut through the golf course. Visit Website
  • The Handsome Sam : If you like Real Ale and quirky, you just found it. Don’t be surprised if you get into a conversation on the subject of geopolitics with someone who has never left Whitstable. Walk from us is only 5 minutes. Visit Website
  • The Ship Centurion : Step back into the 70s in a good way. Superb pub, great German lager, excellent food, very friendly and characterful. Walk from us 10 minutes. Visit Website
  • The Sea Farmers Dive: Just back from the beach wall and a hundred meters up the walk from the Neppy. Think great beers, Oysters and Log burner. Either chilled or heaving, always very good. Walk from us 15 minutes. Visit Website
  • The Smack Inn : Named after an old fishing boat. Full of character year round, with a beach inspired beer garden, which sounds tacky, but somehow works brilliantly. Walk from us 12 minutes. Visit Website

Our Bunch of Fives favourite restaurants are:

  • Wheelers: We think this is world class sea food, genuinely top end. You’ll need to book well in advance. It’s also BYO. Visit Website
  • Harbor Street Tapas: Again, absolutely exceptional food and excellent wine list. Visit Website
  • The Whitstable Oyster Company: Very classy, bit pricey, but in fairness excellent too. Visit Website
  • The Harbour Garden: Excellent food and drinks, based in a working harbour. Live music most Fridays spring through summer. Visit Website
  • Castellum Pizzeria and Cucina: More than excellent pizza, diverse Italian menu and very nice wine list. Won’t break the bank. Visit Website

Our Bunch of Fives favourite excursions/ things to do:

  • The Beach : On a sunny day. You, a book, one of our deck chairs. You are all set.
  • A boat trip: Various on offer down in the harbour. Our favourite is the Whitstable vintage Life boat. Visit Website
  • Whitstable Oyster Trading Company: Go on one of the WOT’s tours and find out exactly how those tasty little Molluscs end up on your plate. Visit Website
  • The Whitstable Museum: Yes, it’s a bit dusty, but it’s also extremely interesting. The volunteers are all very well versed on local history and if you like Dracula, the section dedicated to former Hammer House of Horror star and former resident of Whitstable Peter Cushing, will be ‘fangtastic’ for you to see. Visit Website
  • Simpsons Wine Estate: A drive (30 minutes), but very well worth it. SWE run tour and tasting events. Really interesting, great views and sensational English wine. Also, exceptionally welcoming staff who really know their stuff! Visit Website
